Our Team

John S. Elliott, CPA, CVA

John is the managing shareholder of the firm. He joined BHE in 1985 having served in both the public accounting and private industry areas. He became a partner in 1989 and president of the firm in 1993. John is a certified public accountant and has been practicing in the Nebraska area since 1981. He is a certified valuation analyst, and a licensed insurance agent.

John works closely with business owners and individuals providing them with accounting, tax and business consulting services, business valuations and negotiations, and due diligence. With his insurance expertise, he is also able to provide a wide range of risk management services.

John has been a member of the AICPA and Nebraska Society of CPAs since 1981 and a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

A graduate of Creighton University in 1969 with a Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major, John actively supports both the academic and athletic programs of the University.

Patricia E. Elliott, CPA

Patricia joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 1997. She is in charge of audit and accounting services, oversees the firm’s quality controls and serves as the firm’s administrator. Patricia has been a licensed CPA since 1988.

Having previously spent four years with a regional accounting firm, Patricia provides a variety of audit and accounting services, individual income tax preparation and expertise in QuickBooks. Her clients include not-for-profit organizations, construction, retail, real estate and professional service corporations.

Patricia is a member of the AICPA; Nebraska Society of CPA’s and is currently serving as Vice-Chairman of Society’s Review Committee. She has served on various not-for-profit boards and contributes her time and expertise to many other local and civic organizations.

She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1985.

Thomas W. Hosier, CPA/PFS

Tom joined Boyle, Hess & Elliott CPAs in 2003 with more than 20 years of tax experience with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), national and other local accounting firms. His position as the senior tax manager has focused his experience of providing accounting, tax and consulting services to all sizes of companies in manufacturing, construction and professional services. Additionally he has worked extensively in the areas of estates, trusts and non-profit entities.

Tom also leads the firm’s wealth management service group with assisting clients with identifying and accomplishing their short and long term personal and financial goals. These include planning in the areas for executive compensation, education funding, risk analysis and management, investment goals, estate and retirement planning. He is one of select group of CPA’s who have earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This certification is only awarded to CPA’s who have additional comprehensive financial planning experience and training. Additionally he is licensed in Life & Health Insurance with the State of Nebraska, has earned his Series 66 Securities License and is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative with services offered through Honkamp Krueger Financial Services, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor.

Tom is a CPA and a member of both the American (AICPA) and Nebraska Society's of CPA’s. He is a past Presided and current treasurer for the Masonic Youth Foundation of Nebraska and previously served on the boards of the Girl Scouts – Great Plains Council and Ballet Omaha.

He is a graduate of Creighton University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He is married, has two daughters and enjoys many outdoor activities.

Kevin D. Wiederin, CPA

Kevin joined Boyle, Hess & Elliott in September of 2007. He has over 10 years in the industry and serves as the firms Audit Manager. His experience in public accounting includes income tax preparation for individuals, corporations and partnerships, fieldwork and supervision of compilation, review and audit engagements in such industries as non-profit, manufacturing, construction and governmental entities.

Kevin is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Kevin has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Buena Vista University – Storm Lake, Iowa.

William F. Boyle, CPA

Bill co-founded the firm in 1947 and has been a licensed, practicing accountant since that date. Bill remains active in the professional practice of the firm, serving a variety of corporate and individual clients in the accounting, tax and estate planning areas.

Bill has been a member of the AICPA and Nebraska Society of CPAs since 1949 and is a well-known figure in the Omaha community.

He graduated from Creighton University in 1943 with a Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major.

David R. "Doc" McKinney

David "Doc" McKinney joined BHE in 1997. He has more than thirty years' experience in accounting and business development and has an extensive background in operations and management responsibilities. He is a member of the firm's management team and manages the firms Accounting Services Group which specializes in accounting services for privately-owned businesses. He supervises the accounting engagements for a variety of industries including retail, restaurants, real estate, distribution, and professional service corporations.

Doc graduated from Creighton University in 1969 with a Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major. He is a former member of Beta Alpha Psi.

Sonja T. Vehorn, CPA

Sonja joined Boyle, Hess and Elliott in August 2009. She had over 25 years of experience as CFO for a large regional industrial water treatment company prior to joining the firm. As the firm's small business specialist, she handles monthly accounting and compilations for a myriad of clients, including physicians, attorneys, restaurants, salons, and various retail businesses. Her experience in public accounting includes individual income tax preparation, and she is also a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Sonja received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree with a concentration in Accounting from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama in 1981. She passed the CPA exam in May of 1988.

She has served on the boards of many volunteer organizations, most recently as Treasurer of Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, LA and New Neighbors League of Omaha.

Elizabeth Tritsch, CPA

Liz is a Certified Public Accountant and has been preparing taxes for 18 years; 15 of those with Boyle, Hess & Elliott, CPAs. She is a former corporate cash manager who did a mid-life career switch to public accounting.

She is a member of the AICPA and the Nebraska Society of CPAs and specializes in tax accounting. Liz works with individuals of all types of small businesses, trusts and partnerships.

Liz is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a double major in economics and finance. She also holds an MBA degree with a specialization in finance from the University of Nebraska.

When not working, Liz scours local and international markets for antique jewelry and early 20th century Damask silver.

Ed Britton

Ed joined Boyle, Hess & Elliott in 1972 after graduating from Business College. He has over 39 years of experience in the business and started out as a computer programmer and data entry operator.

Ed is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and specializes in web design and payroll. He provides support and training for a variety of clients using QuickBooks. He serves as the firms IT Manager, in addition to handling payroll processing for various clients.

He enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons and many grandchildren. Ed also enjoys working outdoors, going to the gym and enjoys keeping up with the latest in technology and web development.

Alison Lueders

Alison joined Boyle, Hess and Elliott in February 2006. She prepares individual income tax returns and performs retirement plan administration. Prior to joining the firm, she had over ten years of accounting experience including part-time Grant Accountant for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Finance Assistant for the Girl Scouts-Great Plains Council and Accountant for International Transportation Specialists. In addition, she prepared individual income tax returns for H & R Block for five tax seasons.

Alison received a Bachelor of Science-Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1993 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska in 2005. She was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society for Collegiate Schools of Business in March 2004.
